Tom Fairley Award For Editorial Excellence Deadline: Friday, January 14, 2011
Eligibility: Nominee must be an editor who worked on a freelance or in-house basis for the project. The award is for an editor's outstanding contribution to a work published in Canada in English or French during the stated calendar year. Any type of written project -- book, magazine, government or corporate report, software documentation -- is eligible, as is any type of editorial work. Nominees are limited to one submission per year. This submission can comprise a single item or several items from a related series of titles.
Value: The Tom Fairley Award is accompanied by a cash prize of $2000, made possible by grants from the Editors' Association of Canada and several publishers: Harper Collins, Random House of Canada, Breakwater Books, Orca Book Publishers UBC Press, Madison, the C.D. Howe Institute, New Society Publishers, and the University of Calgary Press.
