Industry Leaders Gather to Explore Global

Toronto, ON – International experts and Canadian industry leaders will provide insights into the growing impact that developments in foreign jurisdictions are having on Canada’s investment funds industry at The Investment Funds Institute of Canada’s (IFIC) annual leadership conference.What: IFIC’s 2013 Leadership Conference – Canada’s pre-eminent networking and information event for the mutual funds industry
When: Wednesday, October 9, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Where: The Carlu, 444 Yonge Street, Toronto
Why: Our conference theme Global Trends – Canadian Perspectives recognizes the growing impact that developments in foreign jurisdictions are having on Canada’s investment funds industry.
Who: IFIC board chair Glen Gowland, Managing Director & Head, Canadian Wealth Management Advisory, Scotiabank, will set the themes for our day and share new research from the Conference Board of Canada on the industry’s economic contributions;
A panel of industry leaders will give conference participants an insider’s perspective on what is top of mind for some of the industry’s CEOs. The panelists will draw on their extensive experiences to discuss competitive challenges, international operations, global trends and opportunities, and what they expect the industry to look like in 10 years.
Senior executives from international fund associations in the U.K., Australia, and the U.S. will talk about recent regulatory and market-generated changes in their jurisdictions that are being watched by Canada’s regulators.
In the afternoon, we’ll examine trends in extraterritorial initiatives, how firms should be readying themselves to deal with increasing foreign reporting, and hear how overseas firms are meeting worldwide market challenges with new products.
These sessions will draw together the industry’s most senior leaders and representatives for important discussions exploring the way forward for the fund industry and investors.
