VOW Appalled by Targeted Hate Mail and Threats
February 21, 2017
Canadian Voice of Women for Peace (VOW) is appalled by the recent targeted hate mails and threats towards MP Iqra Khalid and other politicians. No one should be threatened or face any kind of discrimination based on faith. Khalid said she received more that 50,000 responses to the motion, many of them were direct hate, direct discrimination and direct threats. The motion she proposed, M-103, calls on a House Committee to look at better ways to eliminate systematic racism and religious discrimination including Islamophobia in Canada.
VOW stands against all forms of racism and religious discrimination. It is not possible to achieve peace without eradicating all forms of discrimination and hate. VOW supports and backs all efforts to eliminate Islamophobia, including M-103.
VOW extends support and sends thoughts to MP Iqra Khalid who courageously proposed the motion at a time when its most needed.
