Sources News Release Ethnocultural Council Marks Passing of Ted RogersDecember 4, 2008The Canadian Ethnocultural Council is saddened to learn of the passing of Ted Rogers, founder of Rogers Communication Inc.Mr. Rogers' legacy as a leader in media and communication will long remain with us. His visionary leadership helped define our Canadian identity in media and telecommunications. Rogers OMNI Diversity Television stations, which started in Toronto and expanded across the country, are at testament that his creative vision of our nation included multiculturalism as a strength and benefit. The Canadian Ethnocultural Council offers condolences to the family, friends and staff of OMNI TV. The Canadian Ethnocultural Council is a coalition of over 30 national ethnocultural organizations, which in turn represent over 2,000 local chapters across Canada. Its mandate is to promote the understanding of the multicultural reality of Canada as defined in The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and The Canadian Multiculturalism Act.
