Canadian Council on National Issues The purpose of the Canadian Council on National Issues is to encourage open discussion on public policy issues. Complete and uncensored freedom of thought, information and speech is an integral part of our democratic institutions. An informed public is fundamental to a vibrant society. CCNI organizes workshops and conferences and publishes the proceedings in printed reports. Past topics include "Mending the Social Safety Net," "Achieving Full Employment" and "Culture and the Arts." CCNI is dedicated to the preservation of Canada as a responsible, independent and sovereign nation in which the Parliament of Canada is supreme, and in which all Canadians are equal. We believe that everyone is entitled to lead a life of dignity, including security of the person, education, health care and meaningful work.
