News Release Take a Short Walk to End Breast Cancer in the Long Run April 12, 2006 -- For Immediate Release The Breast Cancer Society of Canada and cleo, ladies wear clothing, are teaming up again this year for a nationwide walk in malls across Canada for a cure. Mother's Day - Sunday, May 14th, 2006 For the 4th year cleo ladies wear will partner with BCSC for this annual event. Over $72,000 dollars was raised in 2005 for Canadian research into breast cancer - the disease women fear most. Since the Mother's Day Walk started in 1991 in Point Edward, Ontario, many thousands of dollars have been raised and this year promises to become even more successful! "The 2006 Mother's Day Walk will be by far the biggest mall walk yet to raise funds to find a cure for breast cancer," says Rany Xanthopoulo, Executive Director of the Breast Cancer Society of Canada (BCSC). "We are thrilled to be working again with cleo and anticipate that many of cleo's customers, other stores in each mall location, and members of the community who wish to end this dreadful disease, will join us." "We care about, and want to contribute to, the lives of local women in the community," says cleo's Director of Stores, Shelly Redmond. "That is why cleo supports the BCSC and the valuable work that they do." A percent of sales of specific items in cleo ladies wear stores is also a year round testament to cleo's commitment to BCSC. Now is the time to get involved! The 4th annual Mother's Day Walk will be held at 85 or more cleo ladies wear locations across Canada. Pledge sheets will be available at all store locations or from the Breast Cancer Society of Canada's head office in Sarnia, Ontario. This year, you can also pledge online at www.mothersdaywalk.ca - for those who don't live close to a cleo store. Every Walk participant will receive a BCSC wristband, a 20% off cleo discount voucher & a BCSC magnet. Top fundraisers will receive incentive prizes of cleo gift certificates and the top fundraiser in Canada will win a beautiful gift basket from the BCSC.
