The Association for Canadian Studies invites you to a seminar on Diversity in Canadian Politics: In order to analyze and assess the influence of immigrant and cultural communities on electoral outcomes, the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) will be holding a national symposium on October 6-7, 2004 to address a number of issues pertaining to diversity in Canadian politics. Canada 's growing multi-ethnic and multi-racial character is a source of heightened interest to elected officials. A number of analysts and opinion leaders have given observers and participants in the political arena some food for thought as to whether future electoral success requires that closer attention be paid to cultural community issues. Is the political landscape changing in this respect? Members of Parliament, representatives from non-governmental organizations, researchers, professors, pollsters, analysts, journalists and opinion leaders will gather to address and analyze the issues at hand and participate in plenary, panel and workshop sessions. Raymond Chan, P.C., M.P. Minister of State (Multiculturalism) has been invited to deliver the Keynote speech. The results of recent polling, as well as the latest demographic and socio-political research will also be presented at the seminar.
