Opening Ceremonies Mark Official Start
of Canada's Largest Lights Festival

24th Annual Winter Festival of Lights
to Begin Saturday, November 4th

November 2, 2006

Niagara Falls, ON - The Winter Festival of Lights (WFOL) is pleased to announce that its Opening Ceremonies will be held on Saturday, November 4th at 5:00 pm in Queen Victoria Park, along the Niagara Parkway near the brink of the falls.

The Opening Ceremonies begin with an exciting show featuring music and magical performances by special guests who tell the story of the enchanted mist of Niagara Falls during the Winter Festival of Lights.

The evening continues with Chilly Dog, Crystal Bunny & Cool Cat, the loveable, huggable Misty Kids™ and their friends presenting a lively, musical stage show, Winter Wishes, an As Promised Production, with original songs, exciting adventures and a few surprises. Sing, clap and dance along as you learn the legend of the Icicle Fairies, the mystical characters who live amongst the winter mist of the falls.

Thereafter, The Misty Kids™ will Flip the Switch to illuminate Canada's largest lights festival featuring over two million lights, more than 100 animated lighting displays and numerous events during the 65 day festival. To round out the evening the sky overhead will explode with a spectacular fireworks display. Everyone is invited to join in the fun!

A second presentation of Winter Wishes will be performed at 7:00 pm. Opening Ceremonies is an outdoor, free admission, rain or shine event. Dress appropriately for outdoor weather (lawn chairs are permitted).

In its 24th year, the Winter Festival of Lights in Niagara Falls, Ontario is a 65-day festival that runs from November 4, 2006 to January 8, 2007. It is the largest winter lights festival in Canada with over 2 million sparkling lights and 100+ animated displays, which attracts over 1.2 million people annually. The Winter Festival of Lights has been selected a 2006 Top 50 Festival by Festivals & Events Ontario and honoured as a 2007 International Known Event by the American Bus Association.
