Kidney Foundation supports
organ donation initiatives

Wednesday, April 18, 2007

TORONTO - Kidney Foundation of Canada representatives will be present at two distinctly important events Thursday related to organ donation in the province.

Foundation representatives will be present for a press conference to release a report by The Citizen's Panel on Increasing Organ Donations. The news conference will be held at 10 a.m. at Toronto General Hospital.
Later in the day, Ontario Director of Government and Professional Relations Janet Bick will make a presentation at the Public Hearings on Bill 67, an act to make it mandatory for anyone who applies for, or renews, a driver's license or health card, to answer an organ donation question. The private members' bill was introduced by Oakridges MPP Frank Klees early last year and received second reading on March 30, coinciding with the Foundation's Kidney Health Day at Queen's Park.
The Kidney Foundation will make its presentation at 4 p.m. in Committee Room No. 1 Queen's Park.

Kidney Foundation representatives are available for media interviews immediately following the morning news conference at Toronto General Hospital and preceding the hearings at Queen's Park in the afternoon.
