NATIONAL ETHNIC PRESS
AND MEDIA COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE (Toronto, October 8, 2003) - The National Ethnic Press & Media Council of Canada in cooperation with Heritage Canada is organizing round table discussions on ethnocultural periodicals, with publishers and editors from across Canada at the courtyard Marriott Hotel downtown (Bay & Bloor) Toronto, on Saturday, October 11, 2003, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. A social event will follow at the same hotel the same evening. Topics for discussions are : Discuss the challenges of obtaining government and private advertising for ethnocultural periodicals, and, Discuss the challenges facing ethnocultural periodical in the short, medium and long terms. Approximately 60 publications from across the country will be represented at the discussions. There will be brief presentations and introductions by several representatives of the industry as well as by members of the academic world.
We believe that it will be a good opportunity for the concerns and aspirations of the ethnic press to be voiced at the discussions. We hope that this is going to be an opportunity to have this event covered by your medium, therefore we will be glad to have your reporter with us.
