Toronto, ON (Mar 16, 2004) - Innovative Canadian charity Youth in Motion launched today a national call for nominations to Canada's newest award and mentoring program for Canadian youth. Young leaders and innovators under the age of 20 are encouraged to participate in this new, national awards program - Top 20 Under 20. Nominations close on April 30, 2004. Top 20 Under 20, a program sponsored by ING with Global Television and National Post as national media partners, is looking to award young Canadians who have demonstrated a significant level of innovation, achievement and leadership. Other program supporters include the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, Duocom Canada Inc., Marriott Toronto Eaton Centre, VIA Rail Canada and Canada.com. "Youth in Motion strives to assist youth in realizing their potential. This new program is focused on profiling the multiple paths to success in Canada today. Entrepreneurship, apprenticeships, college and university are all equally viable and worthwhile options for youth. Top 20 Under 20 will also link talented future leaders with accomplished mentors, we will be creating a network of knowledge sharing between the young leaders of tomorrow and accomplished leaders in Canada today." says Akela Peoples, Executive Director, Youth in Motion. "We are excited to celebrate with Canadians across the country the innovation, achievements and leadership of our young people. Most importantly, this award will recognize that there are many paths to success." said Claude Dussault, President and CEO, ING Canada. "ING is proud to partner with Youth in Motion in recognizing and rewarding the very attributes that have led to our global success." said Mr. Dussault. The Top 20 under 20 Awards applications can be downloaded from the official award website at: http://www.Top20Under20.ca. Youth, under the age of 20, must complete the application online or by mail, have an endorsement letter from an innovation sponsor and meet the criteria outlined. Please note that academic achievement is not a major assessment criteria. Full award details are available on the award website (Top20under20.ca). Award recipients will be selected by an illustrious panel of judges that represent the top Canadians in their field or area of interest. Recipients of this award will receive a financial award to be directed towards their continuing area of study or training and will also be mentored by a Canadian leader for a period of one year.
