A federal Crown Corporation mandated to develop, conserve and improve Canada's Capital in accordance with its national significance. A formal mission statement identifies three key objectives:
to use the Capital to communicate Canada to Canadians;
to make the Capital a meeting place for Canadians;
to safeguard and preserve the Capital.
