Certified General Accountants of Ontario
Presents a Webcast of its Economic Update
Featuring Dr. Sherry Cooper (Controllers' Congress 2007)

February 2, 2007

TORONTO (February 2, 2007) - Second Annual Webcast of Economic Update: The Canadian Economy in 2007, with Dr. Sherry Cooper at CGA Ontario's Annual Controllers' Congress The Canadian Economy in 2007, presented by the Certified General Accountant of Ontario, provides an opportunity to hear information first-hand on the current Canadian economy. Plan to tune in to CGA Ontario's webcast, where our distinguished keynote speaker will discuss the Canadian economic and financial outlook against a backdrop of important global cross-currents.

This year we're delighted to welcome Dr. Sherry Cooper as the opening keynote speaker at our popular, annual congress of certified general accountants. One of Canada's leading economists, Dr. Cooper is executive vice-president and global economic strategist, BMO Financial Group, where she leads BMO Financial Group's work in analyzing and forecasting economic performance in Canada, which is conducted at the city, provincial, industrial and national levels, as well as abroad. She also analyzes key policies that influence economic performance, including monetary and fiscal areas.

Acclaimed for both her economic acumen and speaking abilities, Dr. Cooper's keynote address will be timely, insightful and engaging. It is anticipated she will touch upon the following areas:
* the impact of falling commodity prices on Western Canada's economic strength
* inflation pressure resulting from slowing economies in the U.S. and Canada and their impact on interest rates
* risks to the overall outlook, including: the potential for a further fall in commodity prices; a deeper U.S. downturn; inflation pressures; the ever-present threat of terrorism; and the possibility of a pandemic.

The webcast initiative was instituted last year to help fulfil CGA Ontario's ongoing objective of sharing research and analysis for the benefit of external groups, including the business and financial communities, educational and government bodies, the media and general public. CGA Ontario's webcast allows you the option of receiving an audio transmission of the Economic Update (plus Dr. Cooper's accompanying PowerPoint presentation), via the Internet. If the date and/or time-Thursday, February 15th, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.-of the live Canadian Economic Update is not convenient, you can download CGA Ontario's archived webcast, post-controllers' congress (24/7) for up to 90 days.
