Hiroshima & Nagasaki Commemorations in Toronto

The Hiroshima Day Coalition is organizing the commemoration 'TORONTO FOR A NUCLEAR WEAPONS-FREE WORLD' on Thursday August 9, 2012 (Nagasaki Day) at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 19 Trinity Square (behind the Eaton Centre) Toronto. The commemoration starts at 6.15 p.m.

AMONG THE PRESENTATIONS:
- Peggy Nash, M.P. (Parkdale-High Park)
- Ilario Maiolo (International Red Cross)
- Joe Ohori, Atomic Bomb Survivor
- Joy Kogawa (Order of Canada), author and activist
- The famous Yakudo Drummers, the Raging Grannies, Soka Gakkai Youth
Choir; Flautist Ron Korb

Ilario Maiolo, Senior Legal Advisor, Humanitarian Issues, for the Canadian Red Cross, will speak about the appeal to the international community by the Red Cross to abolish nuclear weapons because of the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons.

HIROSHIMA, NAGASAKI POSTER & SURVIVORS? ART EXHIBIT
At the Toronto City Hall Rotunda, 100 Queen Street West
Wednesday to Friday - 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday - 10 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Atomic bomb survivors Joe Ohori and Setsuko Thurlow will be present for media interviews at the opening of the exhibition on Wednesday, August 8, at 9 am.
The above events are free and open to the public.
