CFIQ elects new chair
May 1, 2013
Montreal, May 1st, 2013 – The Board of Governors of CFIQ has elected a new chair. Claude Paquin (president, financial services - Quebec, Investors Group Financial Services) assumes the role following the departure of Stéphane Langlois.“I intend to continue the exceptional work of my predecessors,” says Mr. Paquin. “As the Quebec voice of the investment funds industry, CFIQ is dedicated to a strong, stable investment sector where investors can realize their financial goals. We will continue to build strong relationships with our partners, and to work collaboratively with our regulators.”
The Board of Governors has elected Eric Lapierre (counsel, Borden Ladner Gervais) as its second vice-chair. The appointments are in effect until CFIQ’s annual general meeting on September 16, 2013.
As previously announced Stéphane Langlois resigned from CFIQ following his appointment at the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF).
CFIQ is the Quebec voice of The Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC). The Canadian mutual fund industry began in Montreal in 1932. Today, IFIC brings together 150 organizations, including fund managers and distributors and industry service organizations, to foster a strong, stable investment sector where investors can realize their financial goals. By connecting Canada’s savers to Canada’s economy, our industry contributes significantly to Canadian economic growth and job creation.
