ACPM National Conference will highlight retirement and generational issues

The 2013 ACPM National Conference is the premier event for plan sponsors, administrators, trustees and service providers. This year's theme is “The Retirement Challenge: Bridging the Generations” and will identify and address the issues facing the current and future beneficiaries of the Canadian retirement income system. Hosted at the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa from September 10-12, 2013, this conference will feature the leading professionals in the pension and retirement income industry. Some of the conference highlights include:

Informative Plenary sessions
“Is One Generation’s Gain Another’s Grief?” - Provocative views of the future featuring Malcolm Hamilton, Senior Fellow, C.D. Howe Institute and Jack Mintz, School of Public Policy, University of Calgary
“A Populous Now” - Growth and its impact on retirement featuring Roderic Beaujot, University of Western Ontario and René Beaudry, Normandin Beaudry
“Dollars and Sense for the Future” - Investment strategies for the young and old featuring J. Craig Maddock, MD Physician Services Inc., Brenda Lock, Standard Life, and Rob Carrick, Globe and Mail

Six Workshops covering:
- Target Benefit Plan innovation
- Best strategies for Defined Contribution plan members
- Defined Benefit plans and De-risking
- The latest in Legal and Regulatory developments
- Public Sector Pension Plans’ Road to Recovery
- Consequences of Solvency Rules

In addition to the information sessions, there are numerous social events including the ACPM Golf Tournament, a Rideau Hall visit and an Ottawa River Cruise. There are also two luncheons featuring Hélène Campbell, an enthusiastic champion for organ donation based on her personal experience, and Terry Fallis, an award-winning political satirist. Finally, the ACPM National Conference will close with a Gala Reception, Dinner and "Sugar Sammy", an internationally renowned comedian from Montréal.
