August 29, 2016

Montreal, QC - August 29, 2016 - The board of governors of the Conseil des fonds d’investissement du Québec (CFIQ) announced today that Stéphane Blanchette (Vice-President, Finance and Operations, Investia Financial Services) has been elected chair of the board.

“I am honored that my peers have chosen me to assume this role in one of the most dynamic periods in the history of the industry,” says Mr. Blanchette. “I intend to build on the legacy of my predecessors, providing thoughtful, fact-based commentary to Quebec regulators and policy makers on all issues impacting the industry and its investors. Continuing to build strong relationships with our partners is essential to ensuring a strong investment sector where investors can realize their financial goals.”

The board of governors has elected Eric Landry (Vice-President, Investment Solutions, Desjardins Investment inc.) as its second vice-chair and added the following new members: Tommy Baltzis (President, WhiteHaven Securities), François Bruneau (Administrative Vice-President - Investments, Groupe Cloutier) and Gino Savard (President and Partner, Mica Financial Services). All appointments take effect September 1, 2016.

Mr. Blanchette succeeds Claude Paquin (President, Financial Services – Quebec, Investors Group Financial Services), who has led the board since May 2013. CFIQ’s governors extend thanks to Mr. Paquin for his strong leadership over the past three years.
