Kingston Field Naturalists Sponsor Celebration of NatureMarch 31, 2009Kingston, Ontario - Kingston Field Naturalists today announced sponsorship of Celebration of Nature, an art show and sale celebrating its 60th anniversary. The show and sale will be held at Sydenham St. United Church on May 2nd, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This fundraiser brings together the work of local painters and photographers who are inspired by their love of the natural world. Animals and birds, landscapes, weather and seasons are all depicted.Says Rose-Marie Burke, KFN spokesperson: "We each respond to our experience of nature in different ways. Some enjoy watching and identifying birds or other living things. Some like canoeing, camping, hiking or just quietly walking in nature. Some work for preservation. Drawing, painting or photographing nature helps many re-connect with its revitalizing powers." Kingston Field Naturalists was founded sixty years ago as a nature club and charitable organization. It aims to stimulate public interest in nature and in the protection and preservation of wildlife. In addition, members acquire, record and share knowledge of natural history. The Club also acquires, receives and holds lands for the purpose of preserving their natural flora and fauna.
