FOCAL Welcomes New Board Chair Kathryn Hewlett-Jobes

The Canadian Foundation of the Americas welcomes Kathryn Hewlett-Jobes as the new Chair of its Board of Directors.

"Ms. Hewlett-Jobes′ extensive experience in Latin America and the Caribbean along with her private sector leadership will boost FOCAL′s ability to engage with a wider range of actors both in Canada and in the region as a whole," said Carlo Dade, Executive Director.

"Kathryn is the right person at the right time," said John Graham, who has served as the Chair of the Board since 2001. He will remain on the FOCAL board as Chair Emeritus.

Most recently, Ms. Hewlett-Jobes was a Senior Regional Advisor for the Caribbean at the Inter-American Development Bank and served as a Senior Advisor on that institution′s Multilateral Investment Fund, which focused on growth through private sector development.

She also served as Canada′s High Commissioner to Jamaica, Bahamas and Belize (1993-1996) and Director of Market Intelligence as well as Director of Policy and Trade at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Ms. Hewlett-Jobes holds a MSc in Development Finance from the University of London and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Calgary.
