Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario searching for best health-care reporting of 2010

November 4, 2010

TORONTO, Nov. 2, 2010 – Nurse practitioner clinics, the high cost of managing chronic diseases, and the future of Medicare. These are just some of the health-care stories journalists reported on this year. As the year draws to a close, the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) wants reporters, editors and producers to enter their best work in the 13th Annual Awards for Excellence in Health-Care Reporting.

Each year, RNAO receives entries from media outlets across the province. Last year’s judges reviewed entries from CBC Radio, the Hamilton Spectator, Global Television and Today’s Parent magazine.

Entries must have been published in Ontario newspapers or magazines, or broadcast on radio or television during the 2010 calendar year. Awards will be presented in April at the President’s Banquet held during RNAO’s annual general meeting.

Stories will be judged on content, writing, creativity and human interest/community impact. Journalists are encouraged to select an exceptional feature or news story, or radio or television broadcast that they feel should be recognized for its comprehensive treatment of nursing or health-care issues. You can also nominate a colleague for an award.

For more information or an entry form, please visit: http://www.rnao.org/mediaaward.

SUBMISSIONS MUST BE RECEIVED AT RNAO HEAD OFFICE NO LATER THAN
4:30 P.M. DECEMBER 21, 2010. PLEASE NOTE: ONLY ONE ENTRY PER PERSON PER CATEGORY WILL BE ACCEPTED.

The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) is the professional association representing registered nurses wherever they practise in Ontario. Since 1925, RNAO has lobbied for healthy public policy, promoted excellence in nursing practice, increased nurses’ contribution to shaping the health-care system, and influenced decisions that affect nurses and the public they serve.
