Another Expansion at Pearson for Machinists!June 7, 2011For Immediate ReleaseToronto, ON If you have noticed a little more spring in the step of the Ambassadors at Pearson International Airport, its because they have become the newest members of the IAMAW. The 90 employees of Airport Operations Support Services, also known as Ambassadors, provide assistance to passengers when they enter Canada and US Customs at Pearson. Over the past year the employers anti-union tactics and empty promises paved the way to success in this campaign, explained IAMAW District Lodge 140 Organizer Ian Morland. These are the people who direct passengers to their proper lineups at Customs and Security and they take a great deal of pride in their work and were proud to represent them. The Ambassadors join more than 18,000 IAMAW members working in Canadas air transport sector. IAMAW, among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, represents more than 700,000 active and retired members, and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries. -30- For more information contact: Ian Morland General Chairperson and Organizer IAMAW District Lodge 250 Phone: 905-671-3192 ext 222 Cell: 416-875-8140 Email: imorland@iam140.ca Website: www.iamaw.ca Click here to view our Sources Listing: International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (CLC)Topics:
