Join the Beit Zatoun community for an evening of Middle Eastern flavours and sounds to go along with sharing and warm friendships. Acclaimed Toronto performers include returning and new to Beit Zatoun from across many genres and communities: ~ John Millard and Waleed Abdulhamid ~ The Near East Ensemble (Ravi Naimpally, Ernie Tollar, Demetri Petsalakis) ~ Maryem Tollar, Roula Said, Naghmeh Farahmand Background Beit Zatoun (House of Olive, in English), an art gallery and culture space in Toronto, is celebrating its fourth anniversary. Beit Zatoun has made its mark on the urban landscape having been adopted by Toronto's many communities as a meeting place for meaningful conversation, exhibition and exploration. Beit Zatoun programs and hosts public and community events promoting the interplay of art, culture and politics to explore issues of social justice and human rights - local and global. Through music, poetry, film, public forums, visual art, conversations and more, Beit Zatoun contributes to an understanding of social and political issues in ways that strengthen and connect movements, groups and individuals interested in bringing about change. In the last three years, Beit Zatoun has been filled with voices and activities, performance and conversation - over 360 events hosted by a range of organizations including Filipino, Latin American, East Indian, East African, Caribbean, Palestinian, Syrian, First Nations, Muslim, Jewish, Christian and Queer communities. The list keeps growing.
