CSC and Bridgestone launch safe driving resource for teens, parents

September 4, 2013

The Canada Safety Council has partnered with Bridgestone Americas, Inc. to launch www.teensdrivesmart.ca.

The newly-created website contains tips and resources for teens and drivers of all ages. Resources include blog posts, middle and high school curriculums, driving contracts and even a downloadable back seat driver’s licence for those who aren’t quite ready to get behind the wheel.

“We’re been looking for a partner in Canada who shares our focus on teen driving and helping our next generation of drivers to make smarter decisions behind the wheel,” said Angela Patterson, Manager, Teens Drive Smart Program, Bridgestone Americas. “We’re proud to have found that partner in the Canada Safety Council, and look forward to helping Canadian teens drive smarter.”

The website includes options for both English and French versions, for ease of use for all Canadian drivers.

“Even though drivers ages 15-24 make up only 13 percent of the Canadian population, this age group accounted for nearly 23 percent of vehicle fatalities in 2010,” said Raynald Marchand, General Manager, Canada Safety Council. “Providing content on this new site will allow us to reach a wider range of young people, teaching them the importance of safe driving.”
