The Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation Inc. (CALA) announces new Chief Executive Officer

It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of C. Charles Brimley as the new CEO of the Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation Inc. (CALA). This appointment will become effective May 25, 2009. After conducting a nationwide search, CALA′s Board of Directors believes it has chosen an excellent leader who will guide CALA's efforts as it continues to seek new and better ways to serve its members on a broader scope.

Mr. Brimley has more than 25 years of governance experience and also brings extensive experience in liaising with government decision-makers and industry leaders and administering national programs supported by a large network of volunteers. For the past seven years, he was the Executive Director at the Canadian Plastics Sector Council (CPSC) where he was responsible for an industry/government sector partnership dedicated to the exploration and redress of emerging human resources issued in the plastics industry in Canada. Before joining CPSC, Mr. Brimley served as Executive Director of the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists for 17 years where he was responsible for a federated National Professional Association serving the varied needs of more than 40,000 certified practitioners in the applied science and engineering technologies.

He holds a MSc, Neurophysiology, a BSc, Physiology and a BEd from the University of Western Ontario.

We believe Mr. Brimley′s extensive experience and his understanding of the importance of maintaining solid relationships with government, regulatory bodies, members, volunteers, and stakeholders, both domestically and internationally, make him an excellent choice to lead CALA as it continues to expand its commitment to meeting member needs.
