Quilt of Belonging at the G20 SummitJune 25, 2010Quilt of Belonging, one of Canadas most powerful and comprehensive art projects, is a feature exhibit at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for the G20 Summit. The richly hued, 120-foot textilemosaic, portrays the rich cultural legacies of all Canada's First Peoples and every world nation. "It is an honour to be here and visually portray Canada's cultural diversity to the world. Our multiculturalism is a fundamental building block of Canadian society. Quilt of Belonging effectively portrays this while celebrating our common humanity, offering a vision of how the world can live in harmony", says Esther Bryan, the artistic director who initiated the project in 1998. What began as a collaborative work of art in the tiny historic community of Williamstown grew to reflect who Canada is a nation and encompass the world in its message. - 30 - For further information please contact: Esther Bryan Quilt of Belonging P.O.
