Central American Integration System (Spanish: Sistema de la Integración Centroamericana; SICA) is an intergovernmental organization of Central American states. It has a standing invitation to participate as observer in the sessions and the work of the United Nations General Assembly and maintain permanent offices at UN Headquarters. Four countries, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua, are going through a process of political, cultural and migratory integration and have formed the CA4 (The Central America Four) union, which has introduced common internal borders. The CA4 is joined by Costa Rica in matters of economic integration and regional friendship.
