The awards highlight the essential role of innovation and how it is used to stimulate the growth of productivity in todays society, said Joy Thomas, President and CEO, CMA Canada. The sharing of best practices is the key to igniting business innovation through creativity and thought leadership. Created to recognize excellence in public sector financial management, the awards also provide well-deserved recognition for the dedication and hard work of financial management professionals. "All of the previous recipients and finalists of the Award of Excellence for Comptrollership in the Public Sector have been a source of real inspiration. They have shown how great leadership and great financial management can make a big difference to organizational performance. It's important that we draw strength from their achievements and strive to deliver high standards more widely," said Steve Freer, Chief Executive, CIPFA. The importance of recognizing excellence in everything we do not only applies to the awards, but is also one CMA Canadas core values, adds Ms. Thomas. We are very pleased with the attention the awards have generated amongst public sector financial management professionals and look forward to another successful event. The awards presentation will take place during the awards dinner to be held in Ottawa in spring 2011.
