Experienced Rider Training Symposium Canada, May 2011May 11, 2011OTTAWA The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme has invited the Canada Safety Council to host the Experienced Rider Training Symposium this year. This is the first time in its history that the Symposium will be hosted in North America. The symposium will be in Niagara Falls, Ontario and will take place from May 25 to 27, 2011.This event also supports todays global declaration of the Decade of Action for Road Safety by the World Health Organization. Over the last 35 years, Canada has increasingly been recognized as having developed innovative and interesting solutions to delivering rider safety and training programs both on and off-road. The Experienced Rider Training Symposium (ERTS) is an international coming-together of motorcycle rider training professionals, motorcycle safety researchers and individuals involved in framing legislation pertaining to the operation of motorcycles. The unique aspect of ERTS is that it is a hands-on experience. Emphasis at the ERTS is placed on riding organizer-supplied motorcycles in a variety of circumstances giving participants an opportunity to sample diverse on and off-road novice and advanced rider training programs. Samples of rider training programs are presented by individuals experienced in their particular field of rider training. Symposium delegates can ride and learn, or take a more passive approach and just observe. Either way there will be unique opportunities to see and understand how motorcycle safety is presented in Canada. Ideas will be exchanged about motorcycle operator training (novice and advanced), operator and vehicle licensing, machine-related safety developments, and how and why motorcycles can fit safely into increasingly challenging traffic networks. Historically, this event has drawn delegates from around the world, which gives them the opportunity to network with colleagues who bring their international experience to the event. The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme is a Geneva-based world governing body for motorcycling and motorcycle sport. The ERTS runs every three years, and is always hosted by a different country. The Canada Safety Council is honoured to host this years symposium along with support from the Canadian Motorcycle Association. - 30 - For more information, please contact: Raynald Marchand General Manager - Programs (613) 739-1535 (ext. 226) For more information contact: Valerie Powell Phone: 613-739-1535 ext. 228 Click here to view our Sources Listing: Canada Safety CouncilTopics:
