Ivey and Western Law Students to Present at United Nations in New York CityMarch 12, 2009The Ivey MBA Diversity Committee is proud to announce the following three presentations at the United Nations in NYC by business and law students under the support of the Ivey MBA Association, the Richard Ivey School of Business, and the University of Western Ontario's Faculty of Law. This initiative, organized by the student-run Ivey MBA Diversity Committee, makes the University of Western Ontario the first Canadian university to present at the UN's Economic and Social Council's Commission on the Status of Women's Annual General Meeting under the registration sponsorship of UN-accredited public policy agency, the National Council of Women of Canada (NCWC):March 6th 2009, 2pm, Grumm Room Insite: Impact of Canada's Safe injection on HIV transmission and Treatment March 10th 2009, 4pm, 11th floor The Role of Shari'ah in Promoting Women's Rights March 12th 2009, 2pm, Grumm Room Efforts by Canadian Organizations to help reduce the Social Impact of HIV/AIDS NCWC is a non-sectarian, non partisan federation of voluntary organizations, whose goal is to improve the quality of life for women and society. NCWC was founded in 1893 and has played a leading role in many of the milestones reached in Canadian social history. Responding to a variety of interests embraced by its affiliates, NCWC has been a leader in presenting developing issues to the government. From women′s equality, to children′s rights, public health reforms, national parks and inner city playgrounds, environmental and consumer protection, to citizenship and work, concerns of the NCWC have been wide-ranging and its influence far reaching.
